Reframing Justice
Role: Art direction and design
Since 1961, Vera has been working to improve the criminal justice system through research and analysis that drives change in policy. Vera approached Hyperakt to update their brand, and create a new site that leverages their vast amount of content by reorganizing it into a logical and accessible system. You can see the site here. Also, really excited that our work was honored with a Webby!
Designed at Hyperakt. Creative direction: Deroy Peraza; UI/UX: Radhika Unnikrishnan; Design: Marianna Fierro, Nick Di Chiara, Andres Kishimoto; Strategy: Sruthi Sadhujan; Development: Eric Wang, Dylan Viola; Project Management: Jeanne Henry; Illustration: Brian Stauffer

Vera’s logo before and after.
Vera’s work is organized into three commitments; Securing Equal Justice, Ending Mass Incarceration, and Strengthening Families and Communities. Each commitment is complex, and acts as an umbrella containing a variety of issues. To visually represent these complex ideas, we worked with Brian Stauffer to create images that got to the core of each commitment.
The site is built with a modular system that organizes a vast amount of content into and easy to navigate and logical system. Adding to the research and analytical qualities of the site, we created an editorial look and feel that makes navigating the site engaging and elevates Vera’s story.
